It seems mom's lessons on sharing really paid off, literally. According to a press release from the Connecticut Lottery, three Connecticut brothers are celebrating a multimillion-dollar Mega Millions win that turned one lucky ticket into a family fortune.

What started as a simple, quick pick for the October 24 drawing quickly became a life-changing moment when their numbers matched for a $1 million prize, and then doubled thanks to a 2X multiplier.

But instead of letting money come between them, the trio joked that their mom “would be upset if we didn't share it,” and decided to split the winnings evenly. Still, even with $2 million to divide, these brothers aren't done chasing their dreams. With tonight's Mega Millions jackpot soaring to $900 million, they've already grabbed another ticket, hoping lightning and luck might just strike twice.

Mom-approved Mega Millions win

Three brothers in Connecticut are celebrating their recent Mega Millions win, but they still have their eyes set on the big prize in the sky.

One of the brothers bought a Mega Millions ticket for the October 24, 2025, drawing. They bought the ticket at Stop & Shop, located at 44 Lake Ave. in Danbury. The ticket matched all five of the white ball numbers drawn that night to win $1 million. However, their multiplier for the ticket was 2X, so the brothers ended up winning $2 million total.

The winning white ball numbers for that October 24 drawing were 11, 18, 31, 51, and 56, and the Mega Ball was 24.

With the money in hand now, the brothers told lottery officials they plan on splitting the winnings evenly. They joked, “Our mother would be upset if we didn't share it.”

Part of those winnings is going to be used to win even more on the Mega Millions game. As the jackpot has reached $900 million for tonight's drawing, the brothers said they have already bought another ticket in hopes of winning the jackpot this time around.

Veterans Day win?

Tonight's Mega Millions jackpot has climbed to $900 million. We have gone 38 drawings without a jackpot winner, which is a record for the game. Will the jackpot run finally end on Veterans' Day?

While there hasn't been a jackpot since June, there have been plenty of non-jackpot-winning tickets sold. During this jackpot run, there have been almost $288 million in prizes handed out across almost 12.4 million winning tickets at all prize levels.

We have seen 17 second-tier prizes handed out. Of those 17, eight had the 2X multiplier (Arizona, California, Connecticut, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia). Seven of them had the 3X multiplier (two in California, and one each in Florida, Georgia, Illinois, New Jersey, and New York). There was also one ticket with the 4X multiplier and one ticket with the 5X multiplier that won, both tickets being purchased in California.

We have also seen 272 third-tier prize-winning tickets during this jackpot run. These tickets range in prize levels from $20,000 up to $100,000. The tickets were purchased in 40 different jurisdictions across the country.
