The wait is finally over for California Lottery players. After weeks of watching the SuperLotto Plus jackpot roll over time and time again, someone finally matched all six numbers in Saturday night's drawing to win a whopping $64 million.

The winning ticket was sold at a convenience store in Anaheim, making one lucky player a multimillionaire overnight. This was the first jackpot-winning ticket in 58 drawings, ending a streak that had pushed the prize to one of the game's biggest jackpots in recent years. Now, the big question is: Who's holding that $64 million ticket?

One lucky ticket beats the odds

For the Saturday, October 17, drawing, the winning numbers for SuperLotto Plus were 3, 25, 27, 29, and 37, and the Mega Ball was 17.

One lucky ticket matched all six numbers to win the $64 million grand prize, and the odds were definitely in their favor. According to the California Lottery, the odds of matching all five regular numbers plus the Mega Ball are 1 in 41.42 million.

That’s quite a long shot, but someone in Anaheim managed to pull it off. The lucky ticket was purchased at a 7-Eleven, located at 240 S. Magnolia Ave. in Anaheim.

The winner has not yet been publicly identified, so it remains to be seen whether they’ll choose the annual payments or the cash option. Either way, it’s a life-changing amount of money.

Three other California players come close

While there was only one ticket that matched all six of the winning numbers, there were three other players who were just one number away from joining the multimillionaire club.

Three tickets matched all five of the regular numbers, but missed out on matching the Mega Ball. For matching all five of the regular numbers, the lucky ticket holders won $13,920.

Those winning tickets were purchased at different locations across the state:

  • Mr. Liquor, located at 7807 Madison Ave. in Citrus Heights.
  • Northgate Market, located at 4700 Cherry Ave. in Long Beach.
  • Stater Bros, located at 14168 Hwy 395 in Adelanto.

While they did miss out on $64 million by just one number, they still won a pretty nice consolation prize of almost $14,000.

The jackpot streak comes to an end

This $64 million jackpot has been growing for weeks.

Saturday night’s drawing marked the 58th drawing since the last SuperLotto Plus jackpot winner. That means the jackpot has been growing with each rollover.

For weeks, players across the state have been chasing this growing jackpot. They were all hoping their numbers would finally be the lucky combination.

SuperLotto Plus drawings take place every Wednesday and Saturday, with tickets costing $1 per play. Players select five numbers from 1 to 47 and one Mega Ball from 1 to 27.

What's next for the $64 million winner?

For now, all eyes are on Anaheim. The state is waiting for the lucky winner to come forward and claim their prize.

The winner has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the jackpot. For the time being, someone out there is sitting and holding onto a ticket worth $64 million.

And for everyone else? The SuperLotto Plus jackpot will reset to $7 million for the Wednesday, October 21 drawing. It will be another chance to dream big, even if the jackpot is starting over at $7 million.

Enjoy playing the California Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
