New instant games are arriving in Michigan and players will have the chance to go for the gold and strike it rich. These new gold-themed instant games are giving players a chance to win millions of dollars in prizes!

New gold-themed instant games in Michigan

The Michigan Lottery announced lottery players would get the chance to start buying four different gold-themed instant games starting March 5. These four new instant games are:

  • $50,000 Gold Rush — This ticket sells for $2 and offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $2 up to $50,000. There will be over $8.5 million in total cash prizes available.
  • Golden 9’s — This ticket sells for $5 and offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $5 up to $500,000. There will be over $28 million in total cash prizes available.
  • Gold Multiplier — This ticket sells for $10 and offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $10 up to $1 million. There will be over $46 million in total cash prizes available.
  • Diamonds & Gold — This ticket sells for $20 and offers players a chance to win prizes ranging from $20 up to $2 million. There will be over $95 million in total cash prizes available.

These new instant games for the Michigan Lottery can be purchased at the 10,500 retailers across the state starting March 5. In 2022, the Michigan Lottery said players won more than $1.7 billion playing instant games.

Michigan School Aid Fund

While players were winning billions of dollars, the state was also putting billions of dollars into the state’s School Aid Fund. For every dollar spent on lottery tickets in Michigan, about 97 cents is returned to the state in the form of contributions to the state School Aid Fund, prizes to players, and commissions to vendors and retailers.

The Michigan Lottery announced preliminary results for the 2023 fiscal year, stating the Lottery provided more than $1.3 billion for Michigan’s public schools. This was the fifth time the Michigan Lottery has contributed more than $1 billion.

The Michigan Lottery began in 1972 and since then, it has contributed more than $28 billion to support public education in the state. However, it is not the only contributor to the School Aid Fund.

Contributions to the School Aid Fund also are made by state sales and use tax, state education property tax, earmarked income tax, some federal funds, as well as cigarette, liquor, and other taxes.

How the money in the School Aid Fund is distributed is solely based on the decisions of the Legislature and Governor in Michigan. The Michigan Lottery makes no determination on how the School Aid Fund is allocated.

Win big like this instant game newbie

If you try your luck at these new instant games from the Michigan Lottery, you may just get lucky like a player in Saginaw, Michigan, recently did. The man, who recently turned 21, bought his first instant ticket and ended up winning $500,000. Beginner’s luck, that is for sure!

Enjoy playing the Michigan Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
