Two Rhode Island Lottery players claimed $1 million this week

Winning a million dollars is a great way to start the New Year. Rhode Island saw two residents become big lottery winners this week. One player won $1 million from Mega Millions, and the other won $1 million from a Powerball drawing.

Woonsocket player found a lottery ticket from last year

A Woonsocket man was cleaning his desk on New Year's Day when he came across a Mega Millions lottery ticket that he'd bought back in July. Luckily, he decided to check the numbers because he found it was a winning ticket worth $1 million.

He purchased the ticket for the July 18, 2023, drawing from the Mobil located at 3 Pine Swamp Road, Cumberland. The winning numbers were 19, 22, 31, 37, 54, and Mega Ball number 18. He plans to put his winnings towards his retirement.

North Kingstown Couple are winners

The Rhode Island Lottery also made a husband and wife millionaires this week when a couple from Kingston claimed their $1 million Powerball ticket. The winning ticket was purchased at the Liquor Mart, located at 6800 Post Road, North Kingstown. It was for the December 20, 2023. drawing. The winning numbers were 27, 35, 41, 56, 60, and Powerball number 16. The couple took advice from a financial expert and have decided to save their money for the future.

Other big winners from Rhode Island

It's been a lucky year so far for several other Rhode Island lottery players. Several other Ocean State residents have won big prizes playing The Next Rhode Island Millionaire, Wild Cash, and other instant-win games.

Instant ticket winners

An Exeter man claimed his $1 million winnings from The Next Rhode Island Millionaire instant-win game. The ticket was purchased from Stop at Shop, located at 1300 Ten Rod Road, North Kingstown. He plays to buy a new truck with his prize money.

A Rhode Island winner claimed a $30,000 cash prize from a Wild Cash scratch-off game. The woman from Providence bought the ticket from the Stop & Shop located at 11 Commerce Way, Johnston.

Another instant ticket winner from Providence won $10,000 playing the $500,000 Payout scratch-off game. He bought the ticket from Murphy's Mobil, located at 2291 Flat River Road, Coventry.

A woman from North Smithfield won a prize of $30,000 by playing the instant-win game Money Clip. The ticket was purchased from Brigido's Fresh Market, located at 900 Victory Highway, North Smithfield.

Unclaimed Powerball ticket worth $150,000

Rhode Island residents should check their Powerball tickets from December 27, 2023. One of them could bag a prize of $150,000. The ticket was purchased from JD's Bar, located at 137 Central Street, Central Falls. The winning numbers are 4, 11, 38, 51, 68, and Powerball number 5. In Rhode Island, lottery players have up to one year to claim their Powerball prizes.
