Nobody seems to want to win the Powerball jackpot, or at least that's been the case for the last 40 drawings.

For the 40th drawing in a row, no ticket matched all five numbers and the Powerball number. That means Saturday's estimated jackpot grew to $1.3 billion, with an estimated cash value of $608.9 million.

Record-breaking run

The Powerball jackpot for the April 6 drawing happens to be the fourth largest in the Powerball game. It also happens to be the eighth largest among U.S. lottery jackpots.

In addition to the jackpot size climbing the records board, this current jackpot running is also landing in the record books as one of the game's longest streaks without a jackpot winner. The last Powerball jackpot win took place on New Year's Day, with a lucky ticket in Michigan matching all five numbers and the Powerball.

This Saturday's drawing will mark the 41st drawing in this current jackpot run. This ties the record for most consecutive draws without a jackpot winner. Only two other Powerball jackpot runs have reached 41 drawings before someone won the jackpot.

Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director, said:

As the jackpot swells, so does the probability of someone winning. We expect to see more coverage of number combinations in Saturday's drawing as more players buy tickets.

Nebraska Lottery Powerball luck

While there has been no jackpot winner during this current run, the Nebraska Lottery has been able to hand out some big prizes to some lucky players. These lucky winners are:

  • February 3 drawing - $50,000 winning ticket sold at Stop N Shop #8, located at 8511 S. 33rd St. in Lincoln.
  • February 10 drawing - $50,000 winning ticket sold at Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh #5, located at 7930 Cass St. in Omaha.

  • March 20 drawing - $50,000 winning ticket sold at Shell Speedee Mart, located at 802 J St. in Auburn.
  • April 3 drawing - $50,000 winning ticket sold at U-Stop #132, located at 6930 S. 73rd St. in Lincoln.

The Nebraska Lottery started selling Powerball tickets in July 1994, and since then, they have had ten jackpot winners. These jackpots range from $2.5 million up to $365 million. That $365 Powerball jackpot win, the largest ever in the state, took place in February 2006 when a group of eight coworkers at the ConAgra Foods ham and corned beef plant in Lincoln split the jackpot.

Enjoy playing Powerball, and please remember to play responsibly.
