Anyone in Nebraska who recently bought Mega Millions tickets better check those tickets, as there is a new millionaire in the state.

The Nebraska Lottery announced that one lucky player who bought a Mega Millions ticket for the Friday, March 22 drawing matched all five of the winning white balls and is holding a ticket worth $1 million.

The winning Mega Millions ticket

While Friday's jackpot for the Mega Millions was worth $977 million, the Nebraska Lottery has confirmed that one ticket sold in that draw matched all five of the winning white ball numbers. The winning white ball numbers for that March 22 Mega Millions drawing were 3, 8, 31, 35, and 44, with the Mega Ball number being 16.

The winning ticket was sold at Bakers #323 on 1531 N. Bell in Fremont. Players are encouraged to check their tickets at any Nebraska Lottery retailer, online, or by calling the Lottery office at 402-471-6100.

Claim your ticket before it expires

Nebraska Lottery players don't want to miss out on any money, especially if they are holding onto a winning ticket worth $1 million. In Nebraska, winning lottery tickets expire 180 days after the drawing.

Any prizes of $20,000 or more must be claimed in person at Lottery headquarters in Lincoln. Players can find out additional information about claiming a prize on our Nebraska Lottery page.

Mega Millions jackpot continues to grow

While there was a $1 million winner in Nebraska for the March 22 Mega Millions drawing, there was no jackpot winner. That means the jackpot went up again, this time to $1.1 billion!

For the Mega Millions, there have been 30 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner. The last jackpot win was on December 12, 2023. This has grown the jackpot for the Tuesday, March 26 draw to $1.1 billion or $525.8 million with the cash option selected.

This is the highest jackpot level for Mega Millions since August 2023, when one winner in Florida won a $1.602 billion jackpot. It is the fifth-largest jackpot in Mega Millions history.

Other Mega Millions winners in Nebraska

This run of consecutive Mega Millions drawings without a jackpot winner has produced some large Nebraska winners on top of the $1 million winner mentioned above. The other winners include:

  • March 19 drawing - $10,000 winning ticket sold at R&K County Store on 999 Co Rd M in Mead.
  • March 1 drawing - $10,000 winning ticket sold at Fas Mart #550 on 11919 Fort St. in Omaha.
