A lucky Michigan Lottery player had tears in his eyes after he won $500,000 playing the $500,000 Cash Multiplier instant game.

The Chippewa County man, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased his winning ticket from the Detour EZ Mart, located at 169 Ontario Street in De Tour Village.

In an interview with the Michigan Lottery, the 59-year-old player said:

I buy instant tickets every day, typically on my way to work. The gas station I usually stop at had a new person working, and I said: “The new clerk is going to sell me a big winner today!” When I scratched off the ticket and saw the $500,000 prize, I had to count the zeros multiple times to make sure I was reading it right. I was so happy I almost cried!

When the winner traveled to the lottery headquarters to claim his prize, he said:

Winning hasn't fully sunk in yet, but it's such a relief. It's going to allow me to take care of some things that have been on my list and live comfortably.

How to play $500,000 Cash Multiplier

Cash Multiplier is a $10 instant-win game with a top prize of $500,000. To play, remove the five gold star symbols. Then remove the $15 gold dollar symbols. If any of your numbers match the winning numbers, you win the prize amount shown beneath that number. Next, remove the WINALL bonus area. If you reveal a WINALL symbol, you automatically win all the prizes shown on the ticket. If you win in any row, remove the Multiplier area for that row to reveal a 1X, 5X, 10X, or 20X symbol and multiply your total winning prize in that row by that amount. The prize range for this game is $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, $500, and $500,000. Two jackpot prizes remain to be won.
