It was a big win for one lucky Flint man and one that made his whole body go numb!

The winning ticket

Jackie McCloud, 55, matched all five white balls in the May 8 Powerball drawing to win $1 million. The winning white ball numbers for that drawing were 7, 41, 43, 44, and 51, and the Powerball number was 5.

McCloud purchased the winning ticket at the Forward Pinconning Marathon, located at 511 South Mable Street in Pinconning.

He recently went to the Michigan Lottery Headquarters to claim his prize, telling officials that he scanned his Powerball ticket at a store, and it told him to go see the retailer. He said:

I thought something was wrong with the scanner, so I took it to a different retailer. The worker looked the ticket over and told me I'd won big, but I still didn't know how much.

His body went numb

McCloud didn't even know how much he won on his Powerball ticket until he headed to the Michigan Lottery Headquarters.

He told Lottery officials:

I took my ticket to the Michigan Lottery office and that's when I found out it was worth $1 million! My whole body went numb.

Now that his body is no longer numb and he has the winnings in hand, he said he plans on doing some traveling with the winnings. He then plans on saving the rest of the money.

Second chance winner

Another lucky Michigan Lottery player hit it big recently. A woman in Macomb County scanned her non-winning instant tickets to win $100,000 playing the Michigan Lottery's 500X Money Maker second chance game.

The 49-year-old player, who chose to remain anonymous, said this win “couldn't have come at a better time.” The lucky lady won $100,000 after her name was selected in a random drawing that took place on May 2. She earned entries into the second chance drawing by scanning non-winning 500X Money Maker tickets on the Michigan Lottery app.

After claiming her prize, she told Lottery officials:

I scanned a lot of non-winning tickets for the drawing hoping to win a big second chance prize. I got a phone call informing me I'd won $100,000, but I didn't believe it at first. I went and got my son and had the Lottery employee repeat what she'd said so I could see what he thought. After talking it over for a while, we agreed it must be real, and it turns out it is!

It definitely was real, as the lucky winner recently visited Lottery headquarters to claim her prize. With the winnings, she said she just plans on saving it. She said:

Winning is such a relief and could not have come at a better time.

For the 500X Money Maker second chance drawing, every non-winning 500X Money Maker ticket is eligible to win. The prizes for the drawing range from $500 up to $100,000. Players can get entered into the drawing by scanning their non-winning tickets on the Michigan Lottery mobile app ticket scanner by June 21, 2024. There will be one more second chance drawing conducted.

Enjoy playing the Michigan Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
