Laingsburg resident Todd Shroeder claimed a $100,000 Powerball prize after matching four white balls and the Powerball in the December 25 drawing.

He was so excited when he realized he'd won that he leaped from his bed and began to pace around his house.

In an interview with the Michigan Lottery, Todd said:

I play Powerball and Mega Millions a few times per month, and I always buy my tickets online. I saw an email from the Lottery when I woke up the morning after the drawing, so I logged in to my account to see how much I'd won.

He won his $100,000 prize with the numbers 5, 12, 20, 24, 29, and Powerball number 4. The 52-year-old recently visited the lottery headquarters to claim his winnings. He plans to use it to repair his car and add to his savings.

How to keep your lottery ticket safe

The last thing you want is to lose or forget about a lottery ticket that could be a big winner. Here are some tips on keeping your ticket safe:

  • Make copies or take pictures of the front and back of your lottery ticket.
  • Put the original ticket in a safe place that you will remember.
  • Set a reminder on your phone of the lottery drawing date.
  • Keep a folder just for all your lottery ticket purchases.

The easiest way to keep your ticket safe and not forget that you bought it is to purchase your tickets online, using your state lottery website, or by downloading a lottery app to your smartphone.

Enjoy playing the Michigan Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
