Lottery players have plenty of reasons to buy a ticket this weekend, but one jackpot stands above the rest in terms of history. Massachusetts' Megabucks has climbed to a record-breaking $25.35 million, which is the first time the game has ever crossed the $25 million mark. It's joined by a $707 million Powerball jackpot and California's $42 million SuperLotto Plus, making for a huge jackpot weekend for lottery players.
Megabucks passes $25M for first time
This has been quite the jackpot run for this in-state Massachusetts draw game. For Saturday, August 1, 2026, it will be the 200th drawing in this current jackpot run. Yes, 200 drawings without a jackpot winner!
This run has seen the jackpot climb to $25.35 million, the highest it has ever been. The previous record was $21.7 million, split among eight tickets on October 15, 1985.
We could also break records if a single ticket wins this Megabucks jackpot. The biggest single ticket win in Megabucks history is $16.35 million back on September 10, 2022.
The last jackpot win for Megabucks players came on April 21, 2025, which means it's been over a year since someone claimed the top prize. For that April drawing, one lucky ticket purchased in Hyde Park won the $1.97 million jackpot.
Biggest Powerball jackpot of 2026
While Mega Millions players saw a jackpot winner this week, Powerball players continue to see their jackpot grow. Currently, it sits at an estimated $707 million, with a cash value of $309.7 million.
This happens to be the biggest jackpot the lottery has had in 2026, with the previous high being $251 million, won on March 2, 2026, by one lucky ticketholder in Arizona.
The last jackpot win of 2026 took place on May 2, when one lucky ticket matched all the winning numbers to win the $20 million jackpot. That means this current jackpot run has had 38 drawings, but maybe #39 will be lucky?
SuperLotto Plus over $40 million
In California, lottery players are chasing the biggest state lottery jackpot in the country. SuperLotto Plus currently sits at $42 million.
The next drawing takes place on Saturday, August 1. Drawings are held on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:45 p.m. PT, with ticket sales closing 30 minutes before the drawing at 7:15 p.m. PT.
Hoosier Lotto over $30 million
Indiana isn't too far behind, as their Hoosier Lotto in-state draw game has reached an estimated $30.9 million.
The next drawing will take place on Saturday, August 1. Drawings for Hoosier Lotto take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays around 11:00 p.m. ET, with ticket sales closing at 10:39 p.m. ET.
While Hoosier Lotto has passed the $30 million mark, it's still far away from the game's all-time high jackpot. That belongs to a retired steelworker from East Chicago, Indiana. They took home the $54.5 million jackpot back in 2007.
The in-state draw game has also seen some bigger jackpots more recently. There was a $44 million jackpot win in December 2023 and a $42.5 million jackpot win in March 2025.
Enjoy playing the lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
