Surprise of a lifetime after this Powerball win

The luck is spreading to other Lottery games in Michigan. A Monroe County man recently got the surprise of a lifetime when he checked his Powerball ticket on the Michigan Lottery website. After logging in, the system told him he had a $150,000 Powerball prize pending!

Jonathan Kapus got the big win in the April 6 drawing after matching four of the white balls and the Powerball. The winning numbers for the April 6 drawing were 22, 27, 44, 52, and 69, and the Powerball was 9.

For matching the four numbers with the Powerball, Kapus won a $50,000 prize. However, he also included the Power Play option on his ticket, which multiplied the prize to $150,000. He bought his winning ticket on the Michigan Lottery website.

Kapus told Lottery officials:

I bought a Powerball ticket since the jackpot was over $1 billion. I saw an email from the Lottery at 6 a.m. the morning after the drawing about claiming a prize. When I logged in to my account and saw I'd won $150,000, it felt unreal! I showed my wife, and she couldn't believe what she was seeing.

He recently made his way to Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. He told officials he plans to put his winnings toward building a new house.

Enjoy playing the Michigan Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
