The lottery players in Ohio are definitely defying the odds, as five lucky winners will share one jackpot after last night's Rolling Cash 5 drawing!

Beating the odds

For the Rolling Cash 5 game, the odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 575,757. While it is always nice to see someone win the jackpot, how about seeing five people win the same jackpot?

That is what happened in Ohio, as not only did one player match all the numbers in the Rolling Cash 5 game, but five lucky players matched all of the winning numbers to split the $130,000 jackpot.

The winning numbers for the Monday, August 26, drawing were 1, 8, 9, 18, and 19. Five tickets matched all five numbers, and lottery rules state the five winners will split the winnings equally, which means they each get $26,000 before taxes.

The winning lottery retailers

For anyone unfamiliar, Rolling Cash 5 is a daily draw game from the Ohio Lottery. The jackpot starts out at $100,000 and will grow every time there isn't a jackpot winner.

We had five jackpot winners in last night's drawing, and those jackpot-winning tickets were purchased at:

  • Buckeye Breeze Thru, located at 14830 State Route 13 in Thornville
  • Gateway Newstand, located at 230 W. Huron Road in Cleveland
  • Lucky Choice, located at 577 W. Nationwide Blvd., Suite 202 in Columbus
  • Marks Convenience Store, located at 904 Main Street in Cincinnati
  • Mcbills Beverage, located at 1015 E. 185th Street in Cleveland

While five winners in one jackpot is rare, it isn't the first time Ohio has seen multiple jackpot winners in the Rolling Cash 5 game. Back on July 20, two tickets matched all five of the winning numbers to split the $398,000 jackpot at that time.

50th-anniversary celebration winner

The Ohio Lottery is celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and to help celebrate, lottery officials announced the new scratch-off game called, obviously, 50th Anniversary.

While it wasn't the top prize of $15 million, one lucky Ohio Lottery player is celebrating their recent win in the scratch-off game. The winner won $50,000 on the $50 ticket.

The lucky winner purchased their ticket at Massillon Mini Mart, located at 2622 Lincoln Way NW in Massillon. They recently claimed their winnings, and after mandatory state and federal taxes totaling 28 percent, the winner will take home about $36,000.

For the 50th Anniversary ticket, it is a $50 scratch-off that offers a top prize of $15 million, which is split into annuity payments of $600,000 for 25 years. As of August 27, there are still two top prizes remaining in the game. The second-tier prize is $1 million (paid out in annuity payments of $40,000 for 25 years) and there are seven of those prizes still unclaimed. For the $50,000 this winner won, there are still 25 prizes remaining in the game.

Enjoy playing the Ohio Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
