Bay Area resident Durwin Hickman is set for life after winning $20 million while playing a $30 Set For Life scratch-off lottery ticket. The airport worker played the game while on his lunch break. He got to the last but one prize box when he scratched off the word LIFE, which meant he’d won the jackpot prize. He immediately snapped a photo of the ticket and sent it to his wife to confirm the win.

In an interview with the California Lottery, Durwin said, “It was the biggest rush I have had in my life.” He added that all he had ever wanted to do was to buy a house for his wife.

He had previously won $1,000 playing the California Lottery.

Durwin purchased the scratch-off from L& M Liquor, located at 22610 Vermont St, Hayward. The retailer will receive $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.
