The new year might have brought a big surprise for one lucky Pennsylvanian — if they check their ticket in time! A Cash 5 with Quick Cash ticket sold in Homestead matched all five numbers in the January 2, 2025, drawing to win the $650,000 jackpot.

While thousands of other tickets claimed smaller prizes, the top prize winner has yet to step forward. Could the jackpot winner be you and this be the year you strike it rich?

Jackpot-winning draw

The jackpot-winning draw took place on Thursday, January 2. The winning numbers for that draw were 3, 15, 24, 33, and 36.

The winning ticket matched all five of the balls drawn to win $650,000 before taxes. While the Pennsylvania Lottery is searching for the jackpot winner, the winning ticket was purchased at Coen, located at 3439 West Run Road in Homestead. For selling the winning ticket, the lucky lottery retailer will receive a $5,000 bonus from the state lottery.

The first Cash 5 jackpot winner of 2025 has one year from the drawing date to claim their prize. Any prizes won on any Quick Cash game must be claimed within one year of the purchase date. If you happen to be holding onto this jackpot-winning Cash 5 ticket, officials urge you to contact the nearest lottery office for further instructions or call 1-800-692-7481.

Other Cash 5 winners

In addition to the $650,000 jackpot winner, there were also over 14,000 other Cash 5 with Quick Cash tickets that won prizes in last night's drawing. Those prizes include:

  • 30 players matching four numbers, each winning $200
  • 1,099 players matching three numbers, each winning $10
  • 13,164 players matching two numbers, each winning $2

Lottery officials urge players to check every ticket and claim these lower-tier prizes at a lottery retailer.

Quick start to 2025

With this jackpot win, Cash 5 with Quick Cash got off to a good start for 2025. The new year brings new hopes for players hoping to win their own jackpot for this popular in-state draw game.

The drawings take place daily at 6:59 p.m. ET and the jackpot is pari-mutuel, meaning the amount varies based on ticket sales. The state puts 44% of the prize pool money into the jackpot.

For 2024, the Cash 5 jackpot was won a total of 43 times with the first jackpot win taking place on January 6, 2024. That means this first jackpot win in 2025 came a few days earlier.

In addition, the jackpot wins in 2024 averaged out to be $740,236. The biggest jackpot win of 2024 came on December 13, when one lucky player won $3.06 million. The lowest jackpot win of 2024 happened on two separate days (January 12 and July 17), in which the wins were for $150,000 each. Both of those jackpot wins were the second day of back-to-back jackpot wins for the draw game.

Enjoy playing the Pennsylvania Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
