A Missouri Lottery player recently caught a lucky break when he saw an online new report about a winning Powerball ticket that was about to expire.

The ticket was from the drawing on September 30, 2023. He remembered that he had purchased tickets for that drawing and checked them against the winning numbers.

In an interview with the Missouri Lottery, he said:

We checked the tickets and we saw we had it. We were nervously excited. We checked the numbers a bunch of times.

The winning numbers for that Powerball drawing were 19, 30, 37, 44, 46, and Powerball number 22. The Power Play was 2x. The winner, who purchased the ticket from QuikTrip located at 4380 N.W. 90th Street in Kansas City, matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball number to win the $50,000 prize.

A close call

When the winner realized the ticket expiration date was looming, he and his wife quickly traveled to the Missouri Lottery's regional office in Kansas City to collect their winnings on March 28, with only one day left to claim their prize.

With a sigh of relief, the winner said:

It doesn't feel real yet.

Powerball recent wins

Only a few days ago, the huge $1.3 billion Powerball jackpot was won by a single player in Oregon. The jackpot had been rolling over for several months. For the most recent Powerball drawing on Monday, April 6, the winning numbers were 6, 21, 23, 39, 54, and Powerball number 23. In this drawing, there were no jackpot winners; no one won $2 million with Match 5 + Power Play, and no one won $2 with just Match 5. Only 10 players won $50,000 with Match 4 + the Powerball.

The jackpot for the next drawing, which will be held on Wednesday, April 10, has rolled over to $31 million, which has a cash value of $14.5 million.

Enjoy playing Powerball, and please remember to play responsibly.
