$50 million win adds to one of California store's legendary luck

With three jackpot wins in under a decade, one family-run store is making luck look like a business plan.

They say lightning never strikes the same place twice, but one California store is making Mother Nature look like a liar. The Village Spirit Shoppe in Westlake Village has defied the odds yet again, adding another massive lottery win to its growing streak of millionaire-making moments.

Lightning does strike again

While the saying seems to point at lightning not striking again, as the same thing is not going to happen to the same person or place, well, Village Spirit Shoppe in Westlake Village is proving that theory wrong.

Not only has lightning struck twice for the California Lottery retailer, but it has actually struck a third time recently. The lucky lottery retailer recently sold the jackpot-winning SuperLotto Plus ticket worth $50 million for the Saturday, October 11, 2025, drawing.

This was the third millionaire crowned at the store, located at 4601 Lakeview Canyon Road. Now the lucky retailer is hanging up new “Millionaire Made Here” signs from the California Lottery, as the store is becoming one of the state's luckiest retail partner locations.

Mimi Shon told lottery officials, “My family has owned the shop for 30 years; my mom is the owner.”

The most recent win was the $50 million SuperLotto Plus jackpot win earlier this month. However, they have sold two other big winners at the store.

In March 2021, one lucky customer purchased an Ultimate Millions scratch-off ticket. That lucky ticket happened to be a $10 million winner.

Then in 2017, the same store sold a Set for Life scratch-off ticket. That ticket happened to be worth $3 million.

Other big winners at the lucky lottery retailer

While the huge wins are often celebrated, Village Spirit Shoppe has had some other big winners over the years, too.

In 2025 alone, the store sold a Fantasy 5 ticket worth over $63,000 in March. Then, on September 1, the lucky retailer sold a Powerball ticket that matched four of the winning white ball numbers and the Powerball. That lucky ticketholder won $23,525.

The players aren't the only ones celebrating. The lucky lottery retailer also gets a bonus from the state lottery when selling these jackpot-winning tickets. For selling the $50 million winning ticket, Village Spirit Shoppe received a check for $250,000 from the California Lottery. Mimi told lottery officials they are looking forward to a nice vacation thanks to the big win.

Lots of threes in California

While this was the third big winner sold at Village Spirit Shoppe over the past decade, it was also the third jackpot-winning ticket purchased for SuperLotto Plus players in 2025.

The first jackpot-winning ticket was purchased in Cotati in March. The jackpot at that time was worth $30 million.

Then, in May, another lucky ticket was purchased from USA Tobacco in Norco that matched all the winning numbers for that night's drawing. The jackpot at that time was worth $25 million.

All those big wins came from turning a $1 ticket into millions of dollars. The next SuperLotto Plus drawing takes place on Wednesday, October 22. The current jackpot is worth $9 million.

Enjoy playing the California Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
