While the focus is always on the big winner in the lottery, the retailers selling those winning tickets turn out to be big winners, too!

A winning SuperCash! ticket winning $350,000 was recently sold for the Wednesday, April 24 drawing. Not only will the lucky ticket holder win $350,000, but the lottery retailer that sold the winning ticket will receive an incentive from the Wisconsin Lottery.

The winning ticket

The jackpot-winning ticket was for the April 24 drawing of SuperCash! The winning numbers for that draw were 20, 24, 26, 35, 37, and 39.

The lucky ticket holder matched all six numbers to win the top prize of $350,000. Players have 180 days from the draw date to claim their winnings in the Wisconsin Lottery.

Lottery retailer wins too

This jackpot-winning ticket was purchased at De Pere Y-Mart, located at 1017 Fourth Street in De Pere.

Things started off with a bang on the morning after the jackpot-winning drawing for the lottery retailer. De Pere Y-Mart owner Lok Bhatta opened his business like any normal day. However, it didn't take long for him to realize his store sold the winning $350,000 SuperCash! ticket for the drawing the night before.

Bhatta told lottery officials:

Normally my wife opens the store, but today I opened it. After I made some coffee and helped a few customers, my Lottery rep came in and told me our store had sold a $350,000 SuperCash! ticket. I was so excited.

For selling winning tickets over $599, Wisconsin Lottery retailers receive a two percent Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive, up to $100,000. That means, for selling this winning ticket, the De Pere Y-Mart will receive $7,000.

This is definitely new ground for Bhatta, who said:

It's the first big winning ticket we've ever sold in the 10 years we've had this business.

SuperCash! - a quick overview

SuperCash! is a Wisconsin-only lottery game that holds drawings seven days a week at 9 p.m. ET. To play, you select two sets of six numbers from a set of 1 to 39 or get a Quick Pick selection, and the computer picks for you. Each play is $1 and offers two plays with a double feature at no cost.

The top prize is $350,000, and if there are 20 or fewer top prize winners in a draw, then they all get $350,000. If there are 20 or more top prize winners in one draw, then the winners equally split $7 million. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1.63 million.

Another retailer spotlight

De Pere Y-Mart isn't the only lottery retailer celebrating recently. The Shell Plaza in Lyons recently sold a winning $10,000 Badger 5 jackpot. Like De Pere Y-Mart, this happened to be the largest winning ticket ever sold by Shell Plaza.

Besides getting the two percent Retailer Performance Winning Ticket Incentive ($200 for them), they also sold the winning ticket to a regular customer.

Donna, a Shell Plaza employee, told lottery officials:

Yeah! We sold this ticket to a regular customer. Every day, he buys a coffee, a doughnut, and a Badger 5.

Congratulations to everyone, and welcome to WINsconsin!

Enjoy playing the Wisconsin Lottery, and please remember to play responsibly.
