Since then, the OR Lottery has added many more games providing players with plenty of jackpot winning opportunities. Of these additions, perhaps the most significant came in February 1988 when Oregon became one of the original member states of the Multi-State Lottery Association. For those that don't know, this also meant the creation of LottoAmerica which was later replaced by Oregon Powerball.
The Oregon Lottery has always looked to add to its range of lotto games with casino and sports betting options - often to many peoples' dislike. In 1992, video poker machines were installed in bars and adult-only establishments while slots were also put in 13 years later.
While these moves displeased many in the Beaver State, the number of people left disgruntled was tiny compared to those unhappy with the OR lottery when they decided to add Sports Action to their roster. This product welcomed NFL wagers before later accepting NBA and NCAA bets. It was so unpopular with the leagues that the NFL even announced that Oregon would never be allowed an NFL team while the wagers were still being accepted.
But regardless of what extra betting options are available, the OR Lottery has continued to offer players a range of lottery games to play. These currently include the ever-popular Megabucks, Lucky Lines, Pick 4 and Win for Life as well as the two biggest multi-state lotteries in the US. These of course come in the form of Mega Millions and Powerball.
As any Oregon Lottery player will tell you, apart from Mega Millions and Powerball, the way to get big lottery jackpots in Oregon is to play Megabucks. This was certainly the case for Hanh Ly and Chinh Lieu from Happy Valley, Oregon. This Happy Valley couple had even more reason to be happy after their $15.4 million Oregon Megabucks jackpot that came from the September 6, 2010 drawing. This win made them the 226th and 227th millionaires created by Oregon Megabucks – which has handed out more than $711 million in prizes.
Never to be left out, Oregon Powerball players have also had some rather large successes. The biggest of these is the $340 million Powerball jackpot won on October 19, 2005 by Steve and Carolyn West from Medford and Robert and Frances Chaney of Jacksonville. At the time this was the biggest Powerball jackpot of all time and was even the second biggest lottery jackpot in the world.
