There are currently eight DE lotto games that are offered within the state. Five of these are exclusive to Delaware lottery players and are Delaware Lotto, Play 3, Play 3 Midday, Play 4 and Play 4 midday. Of these single state lotteries, the Delaware Lotto carries the largest jackpot in the form of a sum of $50,000 or more. When there aren't any winning results, this jackpot increases, creating huge winning possibilities. The Delaware Lotto requires players to pick six numbers from 1 to 35 and gives you three lines of play to allow for more chances of matching winning numbers.
In addition to the single state lotteries, Delaware also offers three impressive multi-state lotteries. Delaware was one of the founding states of Lotto America, which was later renamed 'Powerball'. Figures released in 2010 rank Delaware fifth in the official state Powerball winners leaderboard and it's one of the few states where jackpot winners can choose to remain anonymous. It's no wonder then that the game has become Delaware's most popular lotto, with more lottery players looking out for DE Powerball winning numbers than any other game. The DE lottery again added to its lotto portfolio on January 28, 2008, and January 31, 2010, when it began to offer Hot Lotto and Mega Millions respectively.
The Delaware Lottery also operates some of the most successful Video Lottery Terminals (VLTs) in the United States. More than 8,000 of these gaming terminals are in place at Delaware Park, Dover Downs and Harrington Raceway tracks. These race track terminals are responsible for millions of dollars of income a year for the Delaware lottery and have saved the tracks from extinction, by investing a small proportion of the money back into the Standardbred Breeder's Program and Certified Thoroughbred Program.
Like many states there are hundreds of lottery syndicates in Delaware. Of course, it's always nice to win millions and keep it all yourself, but joining lottery syndicates will actually increase your chances of winning. However, remember that if you take part in a syndicate, you'll end up sharing any prizes, even if you picked the winning numbers! This tactic certainly worked for one group of 33 co-workers from Seaford, on October 9, 2004, when they won a $214.7 million Powerball jackpot. At the time this was the sixth largest lottery jackpot ever awarded and was shared among the printing workers. If you're still not sure, ask yourself this question: would like to win $6 million or nothing? Thought so!
